Welcome Note by Marco Decio, IFMA Italia Vice President

European Facility Management Conference (EFMC) - Milan 8-9 june 2016

Good morning and Welcome to everybody.
It’s an honor for me to welcome you here in Milan.
I bring you greetings from IFMA Italy President, Alfredo Romeo. He isn’t here because of engagements overseas.
Host the European Conference here in Milan is a great recognition for the work we have done in these last years with a huge contribution, received from the Italian Chapter and its Members: both Facility Managers and Suppliers.
My expectations are that these two working days can represent the beginning and the starting point for further development of Facility Management discipline and culture in Italy, knowing that the FM market in Italy has grown up to an unforeseen level just a few years ago.


The Italian Chapter, want to lead the italian FM market into the European context in a more constructive way with the most advanced and innovative solutions and best practices.
This is the main reason why in the Italian conferences of these two days we will mostly speak about new FM frontiers.
We will understand the reason why more and more business sectors are observing and adopting FM discipline, looking for the opportunity to become more efficient and innovative.
Facility Management must be first of all a creative and innovative booster. This must be the crucial role of the italian Facility Management in the next future: supporting innovation in new way of working. This is true not only inside offices and buildings. Now FM lives a new stage: it has gone beyond the physical boundaries.
This discipline, as we can see during these two conference days, needs largest horizons to fully express its potentials. We can now really speak about Facility Management relating to buildings, district, cities, metropolitan areas, and Territory. Facility Management can bring efficiency throughout the urban area to enhance the quality of life of all of us, we are part of our towns. This is a great goal to reach but not out of reach.
This progression can only come out of an open debate between Facility Managers and FM Company and this is the main mission of IFMA Italy, looking for best practices and most advanced experiences in Italy, in Europe, in all the World.
These days event represent an inestimable value and brings us together in one place sharing ideas and visions.
I wish you find good ideas and inspirations from debates, conferences and exchanges and I wish you the best work is possible.
